Instruments: Guitar, Bass Guitar, Double Bass, Music, Acoustic Guitar

For beginning guitar students, I start with Alfred's Basic Guitar Method. Once a foundation is established, I gauge where the student wants to go stylistically and tailor lesson plans from there. There are a plethora of guitar methods available, but I find it most valuable to learn parts from recordings of the guitarists whom they most want to emulate. For bass guitar students I typically use my own materials. I'll begin with scales and will draw from classic fundamental bass parts that are derived from early RB and Rock Roll. Read More

Instruments: Piano, Guitar, Voice, Drums, Bass Guitar, Music, Acoustic Guitar

My first conversation with students is what they would like to learn. This doesnt have to be specifically about one instrument, but what they would like to become as a musician. Each individual learns at his/her own pace in his/her own way. Getting to know my students with a free consultation helps me get an appropriate lesson plan together. Once started, I am always thinking about how to fine-tune things as we go. I like to cover a variety of material during our practices, but make sure to send you home with your own folder of print-outs for personal reference. Read More

Egan A

Instruments: Piano, Guitar, Bass Guitar

For beginning students that are children, I like to start with Hal Leonard’s Essential Elements or any other book that has the basic principles of music in them. Once the student has progressed and has a good grasp of the fundamentals, I will bring in other repertoire appropriate to their level. For adults, I like to find out what the student is interested in and then tailor the lesson toward that to keep lessons engaging and fun no matter what their abilities are. I always try to keep the lessons fun and entertaining. I belive music is the universal language. It doesnt matter what type of music you play, the theory is all the same. When you learn a song, the theory should be learned as well. I like to give scales and a practical theory lesson each week, then transcribe a song for the student to learn that relates to the weeks lesson. Then at the end of each week's lesson, we will practice impovisation with the scales, theory and song learned from the week before. Read More

It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
