Hi! I'm Asher. I'm a lifelong musician. It's who I am; playing guitar is a language to me, and one in which I often feel more fluent than my native tongue. I've been teaching private and group lessons for over ten years. I've been fortunate enough to perform, both solo and with bands, all over the world. I focus on 3 fundamental aspects of music education: sight-reading, music theory and ear training. I will typically use a method book like the Berklee Basic Guitar: Phase 1 and 2 or Berklee Modern Guitar Method: Volumes 1,2,and 3, for advanced students. I also use Hal Leonard and other methods that may be more appropriate for some students. My background is partly as a local performer, and partly as a long-time music teacher. I have a variety of teaching styles. Every student has a different way of learning, so I adjust according to the student’s needs. I provide lesson plans, review lesson plans with the students, and demonstrate the lesson for visual. For beginning students who are children, I start them with Hal Leonard Guitar Method Book One. This book helps the student grasp the fundementals of the instrument by teaching them common songs as well as different exercises. Once the student has a grasp of the instrument I like to tailor my lessons to each specific student. We will learn popular songs together, explore music theory, and improvisation.
