My teaching experience didn't really begin until a few years ago. I began "shadowing" other teachers that I knew who founded The Music Bus Rocks, a local business that focuses on teaching young musicians-to-be, and I immediately became hooked with the process of teaching something that I loved. My experience has mostly been with kids and young adults, but I always believe that no one is too old to learn an instrument. Read More

We were awarded the "Best Bluegrass Band" by the Austin Chronicle in 2013 and 2018. We've been featured on No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain, the NBC tv show Revolution, the Daily Show (back when it was John Stewart still!), NPR, CMT, Rolling Stone, BBC, and were in the major motion picture musical Pitch Perfect 3. On top of being in a successful touring band, I play a lot of solo shows, play pickup bluegrass gigs around Austin, and play with my side project Robin Alice. Read More

I am fluent in styles ranging from classical, jazz, and rock. Read More

My teaching style is taught with expectations. Although I aim to move at the student's learning pace, it is important to hold accountability on the student's behalf when we're not instruction. From this point we can ensure progress. When a student does not review the content for the next lesson, it causes a sense of frustration and nervousness in the student's ability to comprehend the next lesson. Read More

I then will start the student in the Hal Leonard's Essential ELements of books. After they have gained a grasp of the fundamentals I will start to focus more on the type of music they will learn. For example if they are interested in jazz I would have them start to go over standards. Read More
