I provide lesson plans, review lesson plans with the students, and demonstrate the lesson for visual. The two paths that are commonly chosen are the hobbiest and the advanced student. For someone who is interested in guitar as a hobby we will focus on learing songs that they enjoy listening to, and how to recreate the guitar riffs and solos they love. For the advanced student we will begin to learn the guitar on an indepth level. We will explore advanced techniques, improvising over top of the complex harmonies of jazz and modern music, and other advanced concepts and ideas of music. Read More

Starting with a jazz quartet in 2003, I've led and put together many groups and musical encounters over the years. I started teaching around that same time, and I've found personally that the two work very well together. I always think about the time my guitar teacher in high school introduced me to the music of Steve Reich nonchalantly, and how that changed my personal music trajectory so profoundly. I like introducing kids to new concepts naturally, through things that they already enjoy, as a way to keep things fresh and open them up to the possibilities in music. Read More
