I am a professional musician and educator in New York City, I love talking about anything related to music, I am constantly challenging myself to learn new things about music and the greatest process to learn more about music is to share it with others. I've arguably learned more from my students over the years than they have from me. I went to Berklee College of Music on a full-ride scholarship, I graduated in 2013 with an honors diploma in music education and performance from the Global Jazz Institute. Read More

I am an intuitive teacher: I have learned how to observe my students, their moods, their energy levels, and adjust my lesson plan on the fly. For instance, one student has ADHD, which I manage by injecting exciting new rhythms for him to mimic when I see his attention wander. I then harness that renewed focus towards the original goal of the lesson, whether it’s learning a new time signature or a complex cross-rhythm. Read More

I started teaching 7 years ago at the beginning of my college career and I have been teaching consistently ever since! I've had students from ages 4 to 60+ and taught individually, group lessons, and group classes. I began taking weekly private lessons while in elementary school and have had all kinds of teachers throughout my career as a musician; I truly value the music student to teacher relationship and kinds of lessons one experiences when studying music whether it's life lessons such perseverance, determination, patience, and acceptance or purely musical. For students of any level, I tend to always focus on mastering breathing and classical technique. I believe that it is imperative that students develop this way as it is fundamental to any true vocalist. My methods are quite particular to the individual and their natural strengths and weaknesses, but I approach every student with a tried and true structure that leads to fast and noticeable results. I also tend to use written material lending to the classical technique as a way to standardize practice times to structure individual progress outside of lesson time. Read More

I have written several books for the upright and electric bass player that cover all aspects of learning to play the bass. Depending on goals, for most upright players I would recommend a solid grounding in Simandl for learning the hand positions and fingerboard. I also recommend transcribing as well as sight reading and some jazz harmony. All these things are incorporated into my lessons. For electric and upright players I recommend learning tunes, musicianship, technical studies, and maintaining a professional attitude on the gig. Read More
