I always enjoy seeing my students develop a passion for music! I don't use a standard book system since my lessons are geared around the individual students musical taste. I set realistic goals and always make sure I am not overwhelming the student with work or information. for younger students, we usually work through a book together to understand the fundamentals of music before we start to approach more complex lessons. I tend to use Hal Leonard's Essential Elements as well as other series' depending on the student's level and musical interest. For adult lessons, I typically create a unique lesson plan that includes warmups, technique exercises, and the learning of songs or solos all dependent on that student's particular interests. My experience as a professional musician began as a teenager doing session work for bands all around Florida. In recent years I have also founded my own record label, toured with my own projects, and also play with internationally known touring acts. I've found that if you are stoked on what you do, and have a commitment to working hard on your craft, anything is truly possible. I started my teaching career in 1996, teaching at the same music studio where I took lessons when I was younger. I try to carry some of the teaching techniques that were shown to me when I was taking lessons into my own style of teaching.
