Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

For intermediate repertoire I use Rubank's Selected Studies and Rubank's Advanced Method as well as any material a student may be preparing for local, regional and state competitions. For an advanced student I use 48 Etudes by Ferling and introduce standard solo literature based on the student's needs and capabilities. For guitar I teach beginner and intermediate levels using A Modern Method For Guitar Volume 1 by Berklee Press in addition to any scale book a student wishes to use. Read More

Over the past 20 years, I have developed a very successful method of getting students up and playing the guitar very quickly focusing primarily on the mechanics of playing the guitar. The guitar is a highly physically demanding instrument and requires very regular practice just to get to the point where sound that can be turned into music can be made. I always ask my students what they want to learn; I then fit the program to their needs. If they want to be a rock lead player, than we learn the scales, theory, techniques needed. If they want to play finger picked folk music, then we focus on those techniques and songs. I always recommend a strong background in theory and reading but I introduce it when the student is ready for it. Nothing is learned in a vacumn. There is always a purpose to anything I teach. Through this experience, I lost my stage fright and began to love performing. At 21, I moved to Denver Colorado. Even though I was working I just couldn't give up on playing. A new band was formed and my experience expanded in style and skills. With this band, I performed at countless bars, parties, and even recorded music. At around 27, I moved to Houston, Texas.
