My methods will depend to a degree upon each individual student's musical tastes and ambitions. For example, I would put much more focus on developing picking hand foundations for a classical guitarist while the fretting hand would receive more early attention for the metal shredder. I believe that with teaching any subject, especially music, the most important thing for a teacher to do is to inspire the student to become a better musician and have him or her practice because they want to, not to just simply fufill a requirement for the lesson for next week. When I think about a student learning wintry to put myself in there shoes. They want to feel like they have something to show for the time that they were the class session. . if we have an hour session and at the end of the session they can go out and show off what they learned then they will. It be as motivated to come back....
