i like to do a lot of exercises at the beginning of the class at least 15 minutes the we start whit the songs in the singing classes , for the instruments i like to do some exercises an the work on the technical books the with songs that the student like to play and also some recommend, i love to given rewards like compliments or another song that they love to practice that give motivation for the student. i like to give them homework or something to study at home , because more practice faster learning. For every student I construct a personalized lesson plan, I enjoy the teaching experience at all levels and environments. I like to emphasize progress in small intervals and continued interest through fun and self confidence with the instrument. It is important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. My style is patient and encouraging. For beginning students I use Mel Bay Guitar Book 1 for standard notation reading along with my book Fret Board Explorers which has finger strengthening drills,and various picking exercises. Along the way I introduce basic chords teaching the correct fingering. In addition to that I introduce scales, arpeggios and chord inversions. Books I use for teaching Piano is the Piano Adventures series of books by Nancy and Randall Faber, which is a great lesson book and a good basic piano method for beginners through intermediate level students. For guitar I use the Hal Leonard Incredible Chord Finder and the Warren Nunes Jazz guitar Rhythm and Background Chords and the Solo Patterns book.
