In the first lessons, I explain the the beginner students the basic functionality of the instruments, the proper way to hold the instruments, how to produce a clear sound from the instruments and a Major scale ascending and descending, the one from which the first lessons or the next lessons is written. If the students already had books from prior music instructor, we pick up from the last lessons after answering questions t o make sure the students thoroughly understand the lessons from the previous chapters and he or she is ready to proceed to the next lessons. I really take a look at what the student needs to learn and what the student wants to learn because I've seen a lot of students giving up because the institution or teacher is giving to much theory and very poor practice. I try to balance those responsibilities to a point that the student will always be learning something new as long as I work on their motivation and consistency of keeping up so they can learn how to play anything they like and want. My life is about music. I started playing guitar at age 5 years old. Began learning to read music at age 7 yrs. By the time I was 12, I joined the musician's union, playing lead guitar in my 1st group, in the St. Louis area for the next 8 years. Moved to Hollywood, Ca.. to further my life as a musician ,soon playing bass and played on TV shows such as The Merv Griffen Show, and other T.V. shows,recorded 2 sound tracks in films andplayed on the" World Famous Sunset Strip" for several years and touring across the country. I began teaching guitar in 2002 while still attending the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. That's when I found my true calling in life and I have now taught hundreds of students. Several of my former students have even gone on to obtain part-time and full-time music careers.
