Emily Retsas is a musician who currently based in Los Angeles. Since 2018 Emily has been playing bass for Phoebe Bridgers as well as having played for artists such as Kim Gordon, Boygenius, Better Oblivion Community Center, Shirley Manson(Garbage), Fiona Apple. Emily recorded bass on the four time Grammy nominated album Punisher by Phoebe Bridgers. For those interested in classical guitar, I use selected pieces from the Christopher Parkening Method Books. If you are wanting to learn for casual enjoyment, I will teach you basic chords, popular riffs and selected songs from classic rock, the blues, pop, folk or modern rock. I have been teaching since High School, but it wasn't until my first year of college that I started teaching music. After 6+ years of teaching in my home studios in both Austin and San Antonio, I enjoy a variety of students learning violin, viola, cello, piano, guitar, and even certain music software. My greatest lesson in teaching is that no two students are alike; one student may be more traditional and focused and have no problem learning to read music, for example, while another student may have little to no attention span, making it impossible to learn consistently.
