I began teaching private guitar lessons while I was attending Ohio State University. I was a teaching assistant while in graduate school. During my school days I thought of teaching music simply as a way to earn some money. After completing my college work I became a touring freelance musician, performing with widely-varying artists and an extremely wide range of style and genres. As far as my teaching methods go, I do not use any of the course books commonly used by many teachers and studios. I feel that this cookie cutter approach doesnt successfully work for everybody as it assumes everyone is the same. I have taught thousands of students over the decades and can say that I havent seen two students exactly alike the entire time.
