Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

For students who are already in an instrumental program through school, I will start with whatever method book they are using at school, and branch off from there. Depending on the instrument, I will bring in another method book specific to that instrument book and we will also use some sort of etude book. The etudes may be classical in nature or more modern music. For older students, I will help them prepare Solo and Ensemble pieces as well. Read More

There is no one size fits all method for teaching anybody. What’s important is to strike a balance of activities that works for the student, engaging their desire to learn while giving them the structure necessary for success. For example, many students want to learn their favorite pop song or the latest hit from their favorite movie. I want to help them not just play those songs, but use that as a way to learn valuable skills for future musical interests. Read More

I start every student with basic terminology for the instrument. I work on bow technique and instrument technique very early on, I believe every student wants to play as soon as possible. Music should be fun and as such, if a student is not enjoying lessons anymore I do not push and leave the option to end up to the student and parents. I am trying to turn students on to music, but not create professional musicians in every student. Read More

My philosophy of teaching is that there is a base of knowledge and skills that a student must possess before a more personal journey in music can occur. While I don't subscribe to any particular method I do believe there is a best order to learning. I find a great sense of joy in my students developing a passion for music much like my own. It is important to me to include composition, theory, and history in my lessons so that my students can understand music as a whole, rather than just being a talented performer.
