I typically use a combination of methods in the private lesson setting-method books, etude books, books for technique, solo repertoire, and pop/rock/jazz music and or charts for contemporary study. For beginners, I like Essential Elements 2000, Faber Method, Suzuki solo books, and easy pop music books. For more advanced students, I will incorporate advanced methods such as etude books/orchestral excerpts along with repertoire geared more towards polishing for recital or performance. Read More

My first teaching experience comes from the high school years. My teacher asked me to cover him for a couple weeks with beginner students (6-9 years old kids). Then when I graduated from high school and started my Bachelors, I began to work as a part-time teacher. After that, while earning my Master's, I began a teaching assistantship. Read More

I will focus on your musical passion and help you set goals based on the musician you would like to be. I will likely use a method book for piano or strings while voice students will develop repertoire from a variety of sources. I can help you learn to sing by reading music or by rote. I will help you seek opportunities for performance to build your confidence and experience. Read More
Instruments: Cello
I prefer to solidify technique with studies so that in the repertoire, students are comfortable enough with the technical demands to develop their individual musical voices. In other words, I use like to use exercises to develop a new technique, etudes/studies to push students out of their comfort zone, while keeping repertoire assignments within their comfort zone to allow them to exercise their creativity in different areas. I welcome student input in my assignments and balance fun in lessons with the delayed gratification inherent in musical preparation depending on the individual student’s goals. Read More
Instruments: Violin, Cello, Viola
For any student, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements series. This method book will help teach the basic fundamentals needed to progress on the instrument. For children, I will continue through the method book series while supplementing it with short popular pieces that may be of interest to the student. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep it fun and enjoyable. Read More
