My teaching experience dates back to high school when I started teaching cello to students in my school district's orchestra program. Since then, I have continued to teach freelance through personal connections, Musika, and various non-profit organizations. Furthermore, I am currently in my internship to become a board certified music therapist, and have experience teaching music to individuals with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, and dementia/Alzheimer's. I help students set goals for themselves, and guide them to those goals through music I choose and music the students are interested in, which I sometimes let the students choose themselves. I am a recent conservatory graduate with a sincere love for both classical music and teaching. I spent much of my childhood and adolescence learning cello and piano, went into electrical engineering out of high school, and ended up somewhere in the middle studying audio engineering and cello performance. During my college years, I was given the opportunity to share my passion for cello with some children from my church, and after discovering how much I loved teaching music, I knew I had to enroll in some pedagogy classes. I like to find out why my students are interested in playing music. This helps me to create a lesson plan for each individual one. I like to start out teaching using Alfred's beginner books, and progress from there. Each student learns at a different pace, so I base my lessons off of their progress.
