For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Strings Builder. Once student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate such as Suzuki for their first performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in or what goals they aim for. For young children I usually use the Suzuki method books for song selection and through those we can focus on the basic fundamentals of positioning and technical development. It is easy to see what needs to be addressed through those first few songs and we can go from there.
