For beginning students in any genre, I begin with learning songs. Classical, jazz, bluegrass, and rock are more easily understood when you spend time playing the music with someone else. Repertoire is chosen with the understanding that fundamentals are key to life long participation and students find positive success when they are able to then share a completed work with their friends and family (think holiday get-togethers!) I'm an experienced and knowledgeable instructor focused on developing the student's ability to share music. I have a BA from St. Mary's College and have taught college level courses at Winston-Salem State University, Salem College and NC School of the Arts Community Program. Currently I play solo, in a duo and have four bands in different genres, Jazz, Blues Bluegrass and Praise. Once I was accepted into the UCF program under David Bjella, a busy schedule and the other cellists having more experience than me saw a sharp decline in my cello tutelage. It was supplanted however by the wide variety of classes and music education electives available to all the music majors, which I quickly signed up for to further my teaching abilities. In college, I began teaching privately, first only children, then college students, then adults, until I had a very diverse studio. I am a Venezuela singer/songwriter, cellist, guitarist, producer and music educator. I moved to the United States at the end of 2011. I started my college studies at Miami Dade College in the Fall of 2012, and obtained my A.A Degree in May of 2014. After that, I transferred to Berklee College of Music in 2014 and finished in the Summer of 2016 with Summa Cum Laude honors.
