Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. My number one goal is to teach students how to teach themselves-- knowing HOW to practice is the best way to improve! Part of my lessons involve technical work so that my students can advance into healthy cellists. Another part of my lessons is developing their musical and creative side-- I ask questions about what a piece feels like, what images, colors, emotions they are thinking of. I show how we can achieve these artistic goals in performance. Read More

I have been teaching for about six years, working with students of a wide range of ages and levels of experience. I currently maintain a small private studio, and also work with larger groups of students in workshop or masterclass settings. I love to help students play the music that they want to play, to instill one of the purest joys of music making. I enjoy using a lot of body awareness cues to make music making comfortable for all. I have experiences with both feldenchrist and Alexander technique to approach cello in a holistic way that allows the music to flow naturally without physical boundaries. Physical gestures must match musical ideas but are usually the first thing that is overlooked when trying to approach a musical idea. Adult students can opt to go to the next book in the series (Book II and III of the 'modern' piano course). For String students I am comfortable in the 'Essential Elements' series, 'String Builder' series and 'All for Strings' methods as an excellent base with which to start. For Guitar Students I am a fan of 'Alfred's Basic Guitar Method' Books 1-3. For Bass guitar students I prefer 'Mel Bay's Bass Guitar Method. Read More
