I want all of my students to enjoy playing their instruments and develop a deep love for music. I help my students set realistic and achievable goals both short term and long term. It is also important that students are aware of the progress that is made, no matter how big or small! Read More

My method of teaching involves researching a wide range of resources in order to find what is best for the student at the current stage in his or her development. Using my own knowledge, I am able to effectively adapt and improve these resources so as to be accessible to the student. For bass students, I might use Hal Leonard's Bass Method, book one. For young beginning guitar students, I recommend The Beginning Guitarist's Book by Tom Hess. Read More

I very much teach the student that is in front of me. I love to find whatever ways I can to engage my students and develop their love and passion for music. In my experience, if I get my students to love music, they work hard at it and progress very quickly. I also care deeply about fostering self-confidence in my students and helping them realize that they are capable of doing amazing things. Read More
Instruments: Cello
I began teaching cello in my early 20s, teaching public school strings classes and private pupils while in my undergrad at UTC. I also taught throughout my graduate degree, teaching privately, cover teaching undergraduate students for my teacher, and also teaching college students. In addition, I led orchestra sectionals, coached student chamber music ensembles, sat on jury panels, and wrote and performed programs for entire classes of K-12 students. In addition, I have experience as a professional contracted and freelance classical cellist - I've played with orchestras, recorded sessions, and performed in a string quartet professionally. Some students haven't even decided what their favorite music is when they come to me. Students enjoy discovering music and it is my goal to guide them. I like to have students write out their goals as performers and musicians. Read More
