My name is Thomas, and I am a professional cellist with a Bachelor's of Music in Cello Performance from UC Santa Barbara, where I was a four-year recipient of the Casals Cello Scholarship. In addition to my music studies at UC Santa Barbara, I have performed in masterclasses for world-renowned artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, the Danish String Quartet, and Enrico Pace. I like to give my students a range of music they can choose from something that they would like to play, something that would make them want to practice because they are interested in learning It. All my students will have homework. They have till the next time I see them which is usually a weeks time period. My teaching experience dates back to when I was in high school, when I began teaching beginning students of all instruments 10 years ago. I have been consistently teaching students in their homes, my home, and online for the past 5 years. Having the basic knowledge in music and techniques in playing are very important tools to have as a performer. I typically start with the Suzuki method for beginners and intermediates. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce a solo repertoire or other music pieces appropriate to the student’s interest.
