I started teaching while I was in college as a swing dance instructor. I got my first experience teaching people who had little to no experience with the art form, and I had to navigate teaching students with varying skill levels. After college I began teaching beginning students how to play both saxophone and clarinet. I had private students who I met with on a one-on-one basis, and I also had the opportunity to work with middle schoolers and assist both the beginning and the advanced bands. Read More

I have seen my students achieve success at all levels, from being a beginner to winning a college scholarship to the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music! I have taught pre-K through adult instrumental and vocal music. I have taught Jr. High and High School Band. I presently am teaching in Gibson County as a part time public school music teacher since I retired from full time service over 2 years ago. (I just couldn't stay away from it!) Since I started there, I have also been hired by the high school band to be one of their brass instructors. Read More

For my beginning students who are children on piano, I typically start with Alfred's Basic piano books. There are so many levels and it helps them understand the basics. With the piano books there are also theory workbooks that give them a chance to think about what they are actually doing when it comes to making music. With the older students on piano, I stick with Alfred's Piano books for adults. Read More

Growing up in Westchester NY, I lived in a musical household. Starting Percussion/Drum Set at the age of 10, playing music soon became more to me than just a hobby. Going to college at The Crane School of Music, I graduated with a Bachelors in Music Education, a Certificate of Performance, and am currently working on my Masters in Music Education. After getting my teaching certification in NY, I spent 2 years as the Elementary, Middle and High School Band Director at Clifton-Fine Central School. Read More

I also like to provide the student with new music every lesson. For advanced students, I like to rely on the standard clarinet repertoire for most of the lesson material, and I supplement with etudes from the clarinet repertoire as well as my own transcriptions of etudes from the violin, viola, cello, oboe, flute and bassoon repertoire and technical studies to address specific parts of the technique. I emphasize an approach that is true to the performance practice of the era the composer was active. Read More
