Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

My teaching experience began as an undergraduate student 9 years ago with a private saxophone studio. I have also taught beginning to intermediate piano, clarinet, and oboe lessons. Additionally, I was recently hired as the adjunct professor for woodwind instruction at my local community college. I expect my students to practice regularly as this helps students to solidify skills and techniques taught during lessons. I understand that practice time can be hard to fit into a busy schedule, which is why even 10 minutes a day will help students to get the most out of their lessons. Read More

I tend to work with students on a one-on-one basis. I start by showing the student how to get a sound out of their instrument, and then I lead a student through their first scales. I can work with any method book provided by the school or recommend a method that I find appropriate for the student. Read More

Although my collegiate educational background is not primarily in music, I have vast knowledge of music theory, and understand that each student has individual needs. My biggest method that has the most success, no matter the subject of training is "I Do, We Do, You Do". When teaching a new musical concept, it is most important for a student to have an understanding of the principle. I would explain the concept, and give an example by demonstrating the concept (I Do), however many times the student needs me to do so, and they would practice the concept with me (We Do), and once they feel comfortable trying the concept on their own, I would have them demonstrate the concept for me until mastery is achieved (You Do). My teaching experience started back in college, when I got to teach the percussion techniques class for the other music education students. Ever since then I knew I was in the right career path as I showed helpful techniques to students. I have been teaching private lessons for 5 years, and teaching publicly for 2. Teaching band to a wide variety of age ranges has allowed me to teach in adaptive styles. Read More
