My teaching experience has been a part of my life for over 12 years starting with my leadership in my high school band specifically with brass instruments. I continued to pursue music education in college where I developed varied techniques and approaches to a variety of instruments through my time spent with some great teachers that identified my challenges and helped me to overcome them. My experience has always been with beginners and earlier musicians, but my tenure in Avery County has given me more experience with intermediate and advanced players that have auditioned and performed in All-District and other Honors Bands throughout North Carolina.  I have even been able to tour abroad in Venezuela, Brazil and Austria.  I have been fortunate to work with many wonderful musicians and conductors along the way, and would love to pass my knowledge on to you! I aim to help students enjoy practicing, whatever level they are at. This means lessons will be tailored to each student's interest, while still following a structured progression to help them gradually advance. All students will be guided through long tones, scales, technical studies, etudes, and solo pieces. Students at higher levels may also include orchestral excerpts. We will also discuss how to properly warm up the body and breath, so that practicing can be as healthy as possible and not result in any injuries or discomfort. Read More
