I have a diverse portfolio of performance experiences ranging from large ensembles to chamber music, and from solo recitals to new music premiers. Professionally, I have worked as a freelance musician across the country playing holiday ceremonies to pops concerts, and various other recordings projects. I cater my teaching and methods to each individual student and his/her needs and goals. For beginners, I often use Hal Leonard’s Essential Elements. After progressing past that, the Rubank books and Hite etudes work for many students. Starting around 8th grade, I introduce solo repertoire appropriate to their level. I am a current student at Ball State University studying to receive a Bachelor of Science Degree in Instrumental/General Music Education with an add-on in Vocal Education. Over the past thirteen years, I have taught nearly 400 students - beginning as a junior in high school with four pianists. My teaching experiences have ranged from group lessons with fourth-grade, beginner clarinetists and saxophonists, to starting brand new five-year old pianists, to preparing high schoolers for competitive auditions and performances, to substitute lessons with adults. I actively seek to have my students play for people whenever they can (i.e. church, family gatherings), and I seek out and arrange more formal and organized events such as recitals or visiting the elderly and performing at retirement villages and nursing homes.
