Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

My teaching experience dates back to my days in college, as I began teaching in East Feliciana parish as a band director at the age of 22. I have now been teaching since then. I have made students college ready, able to receive scholarships, and be ready for any college program they choose. I have worked at East Feliciana Parish Schools, Northeast High School, and Now Southern University. My job is prepare each student to be ready to succeed to the next level. Read More

This teaches us to listen first. Even with classical music I like to start to internalize the music as I learn it. I believe that by listening well to one another, by digging deeply into a musical vocabulary that is different from that of our upbringings, is extremely enriching, and builds bridges. We learn by imitation, and yet we are creators ourselves who best discover our own voices, and develop our own musical expression by having absorbed and carefully listened to those who have come before us, and those with whom we coexist. For all ages I like to begin with a skills test. Where they show me where they currently stand with their instrument. From there I refer to books by Trevor Wye to give students a strong fundamental basis in tone, technique, articulation, intonation/vibrato, and breathing/scales. From there the lessons would be tailored to where the student wants to go with their learning. Composition books would be kept to write down what students need to practice and to record their progress. Read More

For beginners, I show them basic chords (Major, Minor and Diminished) if they're a guitarist and if they're a bassist, I teach them octaves and basic waking lines. Once they progress, I show them common scales and chord progressions used in modern music and focus on developing technique. If they're intermediate to advanced, I ask them what they feel they need work on and we focus on that. For example, a student might want to know how to solo over a basic rock or blues progression or the bassist might wanna know how to make his basslines swing more. Read More
