Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Each student has a unique voice to contribute to the world of music. As a teacher, I instill in my students a deeper love and understanding of music and the clarinet, guide them toward the achievement of their aspirations, and aid them in the discovery of their own distinctive voice through the development of confident self-directed learning, critical thinking, and healthy performance practices. I typically start beginning students with the Voxman Elementary Method book, supplementing these exercises with additional work on scales and fundamentals. Read More

Beginning piano students have used The Music Tree series. The format provides excellent reading skills and develops tonal memory and theory. Clarinet for Beginners by Avrahm Galper is the method book that has given students a foundation for whatever level they aspire to achieve. Students are encouraged to tell me what they would like to play. Overcoming performance anxiety is an important skill. On guitar my goal is that the student can read in first position, play chords for five major keys and three minor, and to be able to improvise with a pentatonic scale. I start with the Noad beginning classical guitar book and the Guitar Workshop finger-style book (Hal Leonard). I also use various Hal Leonard and Mel Bay books depending on the genre the student is interested in. I use similar methods when teaching mandolin or bass. Read More
