As a member of the United States Army band, “Pershings Own” , in Washington DC, I performed many times every day for state occasions, parades and even a performance at Carnegie Hall. Boston provided many opportunities for performance including , The Lowell house opera orchestra… Harvard University , Mercury Orchestra, Newton symphony… Lincoln Center, Harvard university band… The Hatch Shell. It is really fulfilling for me to see my students use the knowledge they gain from my instructions to improve their playing level. Effective practice habits are agreed upon between myself and each student. Goals cannot be achieved without effective practice habits. Students are encouraged to participate in their community and school music performance activities, enter competitions and do music examinations. I love to see students succeed. Yet they deserve to be challenged appropriately, they should be proud of their progress and still have fun. So I learn the students style of learning and pace then adjust the approach and music I will have for them. I constantly acknowledge any and all improvements , and welcome mistakes. I create custom lesson plans, goals, and objectives based on the individual student's needs and interests.  Strong fundamentals are essential to readily achieve musical success, therefore, I begin with the essentials of posture, breathing, sticking/articulation, and best practice habits.  If a student already has a method book or repertoire with which he or she is learning, I am happy to continue with current music, or I have many method books and resources to recommend.
