I am a Rochester Musician and Educator who loves sharing the joy of music with students of all ages. I grew up learning music in the Rochester area and received a scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA in 2015. I graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor's Degree in Professional Music. Currently, I am the Music Director for Journey Church, and a musician for the International Musicians League. The methods that I would typically use are the Arbans complete Conservatory method for trumpet and Cornet. Schlossberg´s Daily Drills and Studies, Clarkes method and Caruso. I have been studying these four methods quite some time now and understand not only the instruction on the page but the purpose of the excercise itself. My first student was a NYC firefighter that I met in October 2001 right after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. He was looking for a way to distract himself from the experience that he had gone through. Working with him and seeing how simply playing a note on the saxophone changed his vibe and relaxed him, I realized that music truly heals. If a student isnt committed to one particular type of method book, I usually suggest the Standard of Excellence series because I feel it has a logical order of progression in terms of concepts. I love to keep the lessons engaging and fun, sometimes I like playing duets or just sight read for fun.
