I'm a full-time drummer and percussionist, specializing in improvised music. I began taking piano and clarinet lessons at age 5, switched to the drums when I was 11, and haven't stopped since. I studied at a vocational music program in high school, and went on to major in Jazz Percussion at the Ohio State University. I earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Music and Sound from Bard College. Since then I have become a full-time performer, touring North America and Europe, playing contemporary improvised music in various ensembles as well as solo. Read More

My methods are in service of the cultivation of interest. Mainly I want the student to focus on learning how to play the music they want to play. The key to cultivating interest is to nurture the social, communicative and fun elements of playing music; associating the laughter and exhilaration with learning. I'm a self taught musician - I know that music is intuitive enough to learn without getting overly text-book about it, and I think focusing too much on the book at an early age can turn away potential musicians. I have been playing and practicing the drum set consistently since I began in my early adolescence. Over the past decade, I have performed with dozens of ensembles of varying styles from jazz orchestras to rock outfits to more off-kilter projects. I have also joined many profession groups on regional tours, as well asdtracked in studios as a session musician. In 2019, I graduated from Drexel University with a Bachelor degree in Audio Engineering and Music, studying the other half of music that people often find confusing. Read More
