My teaching experience started while I was in college, as I began teaching drumline in 2011, and I have been consistently teaching a variety of drumlines and individual students ever since. I encourage students to practice on a consistent basis that way with each lesson the student is progressing. My teaching experience started in 1998 while I was the lead keyboardist at my congregation in Los Angeles. At the time I ran a small 6 student studio at home. I also visited students in their home for convenience. I was not before long that I was able to teach a group sessions in my congregation for a few years of which several students were able to achieve their musical goals. I've been a musician for more than ten years, and have performed and taught in a variety of different venues. In 2018, I graduated from Oral Roberts University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Guitar Performance with a focus on Classical Guitar. That's when my whole world changed. I went from helping other high school peers to teaching kids between the ages of 8-12. It is truly rewarding bringing the joy of drums into young kids lives. I emphasize reading, because it gives each student the tools to learn independently and unlocks worlds of information. If a younger student aspires to play in school bands, this knowledge will equip him or her to this end and place the student ahead of his or her peers. I also emphasize feel, because this goes way beyond the mere reproducing of written notes into the very heart of music.
