I have taught privately for 13 years now including my own studio, Guitar Center, Gallatin Music, and London Studios. I have publicly taught drumline at Riverton High School. I can teach many different instruments at a beginner level, but drumset is my main instrument that I can teach from beginner to advanced. I approach music as another language involving elements of reading, writing, listening, and also speaking. The fifth element that language does not have is the playing aspect. Read More

I started teaching private lessons in high school, for free, to other students in the percussion section of both the concert and marching bands. Shortly after starting as a music major at Asbury Univeristy I continued to teach lessons. During my collegiate years I also was involved in taking private lessons and playing for all available percussion-needed ensembles (concert band, jazz band, orchestra, etc.). Consistenly since leaving high school I have also played in both rock bands and wedding bands and I consider these to be extremely helpful in my teaching experience. Read More

I have the most Experience using the following Method Books: Standard of Excellence, Essential Elements, Accent on Achievement, Instrumental Methods and many other methods. Initially (and throughout) I place a high value on performance fundamentals. I start with a focus on proper posture and breathing. Once this can be executed I breakdown the nomenclature of the student's instrument, how to put it together and break it down. Next the focus becomes proper grip for mallets/sticks and embouchure placement for winds. Read More

My lesson plan includes: Hand and foot technique, learning to read music, good practice techniques and habits, learning to play with a click track/metronome, live performance techniques, rudiments, limb interdependence, Latin, funk, rock, blues, jazz, reggae, and country styles, and charting (mapping out song structures for faster memorization of songs) which also deepens your understanding of the interworking parts of songs and how to arrange them to achieve the most effective response for your listener. Music and Teaching music is a big passion of mine. I play 2 instruments drums and piano. My origin started in the church. From there I've been able to work with well known people and gospel artists. Names range from Bishop Vaughn Mclaughlin all the way to Maurice Lauchner. In my opinion I feel music is a form of therapy and enlightenment. And if I can pass that down to others, I would've fulfilled my part. Read More
