Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Teaching began for me in high school when I helped lead our school's all male a cappella group. I did an arrangement here and there but mostly led warm-ups and conducted most of the performances. This carried over into my college career by conducting the various choirs across campus as well as receiving a conducting scholarship. I have seen my students achieve success at all levels, from being a beginner to winning a college scholarship to the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music! I have taught pre-K through adult instrumental and vocal music. I have taught Jr. High and High School Band. I am 29 years old and have been playing music since I was 9 and actively playing in bands since age 15. Starting with classic rock and blues, I slowly began to encompass a wide variety of styles into my playing, like funk and reggae. I graduated from Wake Forest University in 2013 and actively played jazz with the music program in addition to having an independent student band. After graduating, I moved to Spain for a year and played acoustic guitar all over the country. Read More

My teaching does not cut corners. I often tell young students to watch the movie "Karate Kid" and play close attention to the "Wax on, wax off" scenes. (Fortunately, there are practice supplements using play along tracks that make this process more fun and less tedious). I not teach "songs", but I do teach the language of drumming and the language of music. I am an advanced reader and all of my students will be required to read at least some music, however I do understand that many students learn by ear. Read More

My method involves a mixture of exercises and musical application. It is important for our development as musicians to understand what we are doing on both a technical and mechanical level. However, it is equally important to keep what we are doing relatable to the music that we want to play. Keeping lessons fun and engaging is a big part of seeing results. This idea applies to a beginning student learning single stroke rolls or an advanced student learning how to read a fusion chart. Read More
