My students have been from all ages and different proficiency levels, which has given me the experience of adapting myself to a variety of the students' learning approaches. I am a Latin Jazz vibraphonist and popular percussionist with a background in classical percussion. I also hold a degree from Berklee College of Music, where I have spent the last four years studying performance and production. Most recently I produced and lead a group based in New York and Boston. I performed in the Martinique Jazz and Ecuador Jazz festival I studied in a classical conservatory for 8 years and had the opportunity to assist to Interlochen Center for The arts and also studied cuban percussion in La Havana - Cuba at the age of 15. I have had a desire to play and perform music since I was six years old. This interest was sparked by the wonderfully scored film: Tarzan (Disney). The African percussion that Phil Collins incorporated into this movie's score was enough to send me on the path to fulfill a college-level education in music. While studying the classics is important, I think another vital element of maintaining a students' excitement in music study is for them to explore and delve into what it is that they enjoy, understanding how it's made, and figuring out why they like it, from a musical perspective.
