When it comes to beginner students, I always start with a few basic rudiments to help build coordination and then I start off with basic drum rhythms. From there, I try to get them to a point where they can play through a song and hopefully get them to play through a favorite song of theirs. Music has been a part of my life since the age of 10. I started on saxophone in the 6th grade and continued through high school and college. I was a part of the University’s Wind ensemble,jazz band, and marching band. I had the opportunity to perform with Grammy Award winners and world renown composers. I started playing snare at 10 and drumset at 14 focusing mostly on rock drumming. I played quads and quints in marching band in high school and bass drum in college. I then studies jazz and percussion at Grand Rapids Community College and Grand Valley State University. I then studied Music composition at University of North Texas. I played church drums through out all of this as well as with jazz trios, rock bands, and cover bands. Read More

Over the last 12 years I have had the opportunity to teach private lessons in Tennessee and in Austin. I consider myself to be a very encouraging and knowledgable teacher who wants to cultivate an understanding of style, as well as, to read and write music.
