It allows the student to progress and grow and it also gives them the passion and discipline need for the instrument. I also want my students to have fun and I want them to learn what they wanna learn and play what they wanna play while also providing them with the necessary tools to get the most out of their instrument. My views on teaching or being an instructor are vast. I evaluate what stage one is at and focus on the easiest ways for a student to understand their instrument and approach the musical side of learning. Every individual is different and their understanding of rhythm, melodies, chord structure, and time signatures can vary even though the fundamental structure of music and theory is relatively the same. The art form of music is both a cerebral and deepy visceral experience. And thus so I invite students to journey outward and inward to begin (or continue) studying music from both a scholastic perspective as well as treating the art form as a purely aural experience. My teaching experience dates back to my senior year of high school 10 years ago. My mother is a teacher, and got me my first job tutoring math for one of her teacher's assistants. During the first couple of years, I had a number of math and music students and learned the benefit of tailoring my teaching methods to the individual rather than using a one size fits all teaching approach. I try to listen to the student's interests and skills so that I can develop a practice routine that is both fun and beneficial for them specifically. I also have found that the best teachers that I have had, exposed me to music that I would have never discovered on my own. I believe that students should both enjoy their lessons and their practice. I also firmly encourage them to perform and create their own original projects so that they are really experiencing and benefiting from their newly learned strengths. Read More
