I played the trumpet in middle school, high school, and it was my primary instrument in college. I have also been playing the percussion, particularly drum set, for 15 years and it is still my favorite thing to do. This is where I think it is fun to be creative because we are all different. Everybody has a different method of interpretation and I feel like that is my job to figure out what works for you as an individual. For example I will simply ask you questions like what style of music are you listening to and songs you want to learn how to play. I am a graduate of Texas Tech University. I began teaching privately in 1985 on the Lubbock ISD Music Tutorial Program. I went into the schools and taught students privately during class hours. I taught Tuba and Baritone Horn. In 1989 I began teaching with Lubbock Parks and Recreation in the community centers. This was more generalized. I taught Band Instruments, Voice, Guitar, Music Theory, Beginner Piano, Beginner Strings. What I consider to be my crown achievement is hearing from parents who told me that the overall academic performance of their children had improved since they began taking lessons from me. Read More

I remember being in grade school. I only wanted to learn things that interested me. One of those things was drumming. Since I was genuinely passionate about it, I had no problem working through hours of tedious practice to learn the skills I have today. I can still lose track of time while practicing. Began teaching when I was in college. Had a good rapport with all my students. Always tried to teach them something they can use now(like a cool beat or fill), this way they get enthusiastic and stay with it. My wife talked me into teaching again. We were at the recording studio one day but had no bass player, but my friends son was there, so I taught him the basics in 10 minutes and we recorded right after. Read More
