Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. As mentioned my teaching methods are as follows. Beginners in Piano - Scales, proper fingering positions and usage, posture and accurate knowledge of reading music. Beginners in Drums - Proper usage of drumsticks, demonstrate the two postions of holding the drumstick, knowledge of basic rhythm patterns, proper height and angle of drum or practice pad, and most importantly, the study of the 26 standard drum rudiments for proper playing developiment. Vocal Techniques: Proper breathing support, demonstrating the difference between using the breath and using the throat when singing, encourage student to record their lessons for accurate practice and knowledge of hearing themselves sing, (approved by student's preference). Zac is recipient of several awards including the Friends of DCI Scholarship, the Lacey/Striple Highland Band and Drum Scholarship, and KK Most Inspirational Band Member Award. Zac is a founding member of the Cincinnati Bengals Growl Drumline as well as director/founder of the Dayton Dragons Drumline. In addition to instructing at Cap City, Zac is currently the percussion director of Miamisburg High School, drumline teacher for Miami University, and a freelance performer and lesson instructor.
