The most important thing to do as a teacher is find the right balance between fun and learning. I use a variety of books, tailored to the student based on my initial viewing of their abilities and what they are interested in learning. I also create my own lesson plans using exercises and music I have written myself. No two lesson plans will be the same as everyone learns differently and has different strengths and weaknesses. I began taking piano lessons at age 4 and started concert percussion in 5th grade. I knew I wanted to teach music when I was a freshman in high school, when I first fell in love with marching band.
