My method of working with drums and percussion is to first get a sense of what the student's goals are. These include both goals involving general drums/percussion and career/performance goals. We will then work together to form a plan to achieve them. This will include exercises tailored directly to the student's needs and desires within drums/percussion as well as overall musical standings and guiding the student to repertoire that will both be fun for them to play and will teach them more about the concepts we are working on.     I teach double bass techniques, as well as stick twirling/flipping tricks. I have a structured solo approach also. I can teach many styles from rock to jazz and many other styles (funk, fusion, latin, etc.) in between. I know how to read and write drum notation. I have a large knowledge of music theory also. While attending Berklee I learned how to play the piano and also owned a midi studio and synthesizer. Read More

For students that want to sharpen their technique and sound, I use the "Gary Chaffee Method". Students who are concerned about changing their sound I put them on a regimen of drummers to dissect and listen to, so they can incorporate them into their own style. Students that are more concerned about playing songs and getting better at other styles of music, I use some of my own methods that I have customized for those particular students whether they want to play in a wedding band, a stadium, or a tavern or bar. I have been playing drums for almost 20 years now. At my alma mater, Philadelphia's University of the Arts, I studied under celebrated jazz drummer Marc Dicciani, where I played in his bucket-based percussion ensemble. Since graduating in 2015, I have taught private lessons with students throughout New Jersey and New York. I have played percussion for several musical productions as well. I currently play drums with The Permanent Revolution, a NY-based band, and Eels of Love, an NJ-based instrumental progressive rock band. Read More

I was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and grew up in the neighboring communities across the Delaware River in Cherry Hill and Medford, New Jersey. My love for music was cemented from an early age living in a house with 3-4 generations in it; I had been exposed to a plethora of musical textures & genres.
