In middle school, I began performing and teaching music during the summers at Vacation Bible School for children ages 3-10. Throughout high school, as a member of a variety of bands, I performed at a wide array of venues around New England. During this time, I ventured into song writing and musical arrangement. I adhere to their high school curriculum while developing very specific lesson plans and practice routines that fit their desired goals. I tend to use solo pieces and repertoire that will increase the students' sight reading proficiency, playing dexterity, and target strengths and weaknesses, while refining a solid technique package. I played with every type of group the university had to offer, including jazz bands, orchestras, concert bands, marching bands, percussion ensembles, steel drum ensembles, hand drum groups, musicals, accompaniment for the dance department, student recitals, rock bands, drum and bugle corps, and more. I continued with these groups while obtaining my Masters degree in Music performance, along with teaching undergraduate percussion majors, teaching university percussion ensembles, and assisting with the teaching of music major courses. My teaching experience goes all the way back to 2003, when I was a percussion section leader in junior high school. I was a section leader throughout high school and on into my undergraduate degree in percussion. This involved both teaching groups of my peers but also giving individual attention to anyone who needed the extra help.
