I am a student at Old Dominion University with only 2 French classes to go to graduate. I was a first chair clarinetist in middle school. I am currently playing tenor and Alto saxophones,drums, flute, percussion, and singing through various projects. I earned valuable skills while touring and teaching and found a niche while working with kids of which helped create my specialized children's teaching curriculum. Whether it's teaching children or adults, beginning classes start with basic snare rudimentary concepts with Stick Control and a Rudiment Dictionary. For young students, typically I start with fundamental basics of playing. I introduce these commonly 'dull' aspects by casting an interesting light on them. By facilitating common, rudimentary, aspects of playing, it opens up the avenues for improvisation and creativity. Often I teach out of lesson books, typically Hal Leonard or some other popular publishers. For adults, usually I ask them what they're interested in and build a lesson plan that encourages self growth and discovery while catering to their desires. Read More
