I enjoy teaching all ages from the very beginning student to the more advanced students and can adapt my teaching methods accordingly. I feel each student learns differently and that we are all individuals with different personalities and learning styles. I enjoy the challenges of creating and implementing various teaching techniques so as to accommodate their individuality and so each student will become successful at mastering their instrument. My teaching experience dates back to when I was still in high school. I would go to middle schools and give lessons. Now as a college music graduate, I have taught many ages including college peers. I think it is important to teach skills and methods that will help the student problem-solve and continue to learn even when they are alone. In 1977, I graduated from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Performance. In 1999, I was certified to teach Music K-12 by the state of North Carolina after attending NC Central University.
