My teaching methods varies from different styles . I teach music theory, jazz improvisation, musical concepts for all instruments, as well as saxophone and flute lessons . I prefer to teach lessons for one hour, this gives the students a full spectrum of their weekly assignments. I first began teaching the student basic fundamental which includes breathing, fingering, basic rhythms and notes .Once the student has developed these things, I develop a repertoire for the student, The first half of the lesson deals with technical exercises in the second half deals with creative aspects of music such as theory and improvisation. Any time I teach, I make sure to plan every lesson so that the student(s) can progress as far as possible every time they are learning with me. With school-age students, I use the Orff Schulwerk approach often, incorporating their own ideas into the lesson and having them learn through various senses (imagery, movement, games, etc.). I am a professional saxophonist/flutist in central Florida who gigs over 200+ dates a year. I freelance with original bands, wedding and corporate groups. I play in jazz, funk, RB, reggae, soul, rock, songwriter, classical and world music styles. I received my A.A. in Music Performance at Valencia College in Orlando (2012) before becoming the music tutor there for one school year from 2012-2013. In voice lessons, I start with the Bel Cantor style of teaching and once the fundamentals of singing have been achieved, its time to learn how to break the rules and maintain a healthy singing voice. In teaching piano, I use the book Alfred Adult for my beginning students. Intermediate students will focus on music theory and learning to play from a chord chart if theyre leaning toward a more contemporary style of playing. Read More
