I started teaching in band camp the summer after my first year of college and have continuously worked with several schools in KY. I have given lessons to students who are just starting out and high school students preparing for auditions and/other performances. I highly encourage students to start taking lessons as early as possible to establish good habits and break bad ones. Specifically, I like to use the Hal Leonard Rubank Method for Flute and work through those books, as this is the way I learned.  It's also important to incorporate solo pieces into their repertoire, as gaining experience with performance is a crucial element to overall musicianship.
