My teaching style is a little different. I'm used to very traditional training and the things I've learned from college has inspired me to take a different approach. My main goal is to get to know the student, become familiar with their interests and what they would like to accomplish during our lessons. I began teaching while I was in High School and I would teach the younger students who were freshman and sophomores the tenor saxophone. Once I went to Eastman, I taught several people throughout the course of the four years there. I beleive that, particulalry when teaching the saxophone and flute, a mix of classical fundamental technique is very important as well as incorporating the jazz or rock repertoire. I have been an active and passionatefreelance musician and music educator for the past 10 years. After completing my Bachelor's Degree at the University of Kansas, I moved to Chicago to pursue my Master's degree and studied with renowned flutist Dionne Jackson. While completing my Master's degree, I was able to study and learn from musicians of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
