Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. I am a versatile music teacher. As an undergraduate at Ithaca College, I learned each band and orchestra instrument from the college instructor. For example, I learned to play the oboe from the oboe professor. We had to make our own reeds and use them to play our final exam. Through this rigorous training, I learned to play all major scales and high school level music on the flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, trumpet, French Horn, trombone, baritone, tuba, violin, viola, cello, double bass, and percussion. Music is then customized to incorporate their current skill levels with the challenges that bring them into the next. All instruments, including voice, learn the Major and minor scales with other scales being reserved for more advanced students. Repertoire will be centered around the scales the student is currently learning. SPECIFIC INSTRUMENT METHODS: GUITAR, MANDOLIN, and UKULELE-starting out with simple TABs to focus on parts of the instrument, body and hand positions, and utilizing the ear to hear rhythms within the internalized beat. My teaching experience dates back to my high school years. I tutored my siblings while they were practicing the piano. In school band, I was the sectional leader who lead and taught new members learning how to play the flute. Those experiences became my motivation to be a good music teacher. I really enjoyed teaching different ages of students, learning from each other, and growing altogether. I have been consistently teaching students through my college years and graduate school in school and in my own studio. Read More
