Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. I originally began teaching while in college teaching students on both flute and oboe. I began teaching students out of my home several years ago and taught for about 3 years until I moved and my students were not able to continue with me. I feel it is very important to have proper hand position and the proper way to play the instrument and initially spend time making sure these very basic foundations are correct, but have creative ways to help the students so they learn quickly and enjoy it as well! When I attended Rhode Island School of Design, I performed flute and piccolo in the Brown University Orchestra and also studied flute at Boston University. Throughout the years, I have taken Master classes with Orchestral Flutists such as Julius Baker of the New York Philharmonic and Jeannie Baxtresser in Tanglewood, Mass. Even though my Major was Art and I made a living as an art teacher in the public school system, my love for flute and music was always present as I would often incorporate music and flute playing into my art lessons.
