My beginnings as a teacher go back to my undergrad in Puerto Rico where I would teach in a music academy with students from ages 10-17. As my academic life expanded I moved to Florida where I was the Teacher Assistant for my Masters degree for 2 years. There I taught college level students from all ages in classical music. I use a variety of clarinet method books based on my current professional library. I also order based on student need. Method books are selected based on the students ability. Lesson plans are developed based on the students abilities, progress, and expressed goals. A Rhythm A Day is exactly what it says - a different rhythm to practice that the student may encounter in music they play later. For beginning students I focus on getting them used to the first 5 most common notes on their instrument through both beginner methods and technical exercises. I can use whatever method they already have or I can recommend a method for us to study. I have been teaching since I was in high school, maintaining a private studio and teaching lessons and sectionals in Cleveland schools. Having grown up in a large family, I love working with children and relate well to all ages. I'm goal-oriented and methodical, but I'm also passionate about what I do and I love nothing more than to impart that passion.
