I'm a passionate and creative instructor who loves working with students of all ages and sharing my love of music. I graduated in 2012 from Indiana State University with Bachelor degree in Music Education. My primary instrument is the flute. I've played the flute for 14 years in various ensembles throughout the years. I've had great opportunities to work with children throughout my college years as well as beyond those years. Due to lessons being customized for each student various method materials will be used including: method books, theory books, performance books, and my own materials that are created to fit the students' needs. After a level assessment during the first lesson music, including books, practice materials, and solos will be chosen to meet that level and be age appropriate. Lesson pacing will be set at an appropriate rate so that older students will be taught at a faster rate than a young beginner so that each student is given the best experience possible while still having fun! I have been teaching for 30 years. The exciting thing is that private music lessons provides an opportunity to get to know students on an individual level. This means that each lesson is unique, and each student has lessons tailored to them. Getting to know what makes a student tick or understand is a highlight of my day! Music has been a big part of my entire life. I began playing piano at the age of 5 and flute at the age of 10. I was involved in the music program in my church as a teenager singing in the youth choir and playing in the handbell choir.
