This will range within the genres of jazz or classical performance, which also will include listening to and discussing what makes a performance excellent. I have specific background in flute sound and tone production have been the student of the renown flutist and teacher, Frances Blaisdell. I use elements of Social and Emotional Learning in my teaching: students are encouraged to have their own voice in the learning process. We discuss repertoire selection, I encourage them to talk about how the music makes them feel or what they think it's trying to express. This also assists in goal setting, which I do collaboratively with the student, rather than dictate their practice regimen. I am a saxophone player primarily, and have experience playing and teaching all 4 major saxophones. I also have studied and taught flute and clarinet for over 4 years now.
