Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. I have taught beginners from scratch, students who need help in band, and also students who are preparing for college auditions. For beginning students, I use the Standard of Excellence book 1 by Bruce Pearson. For intermediate students, I use the Standard of Excellence book 2, and for the advanced students, I use the Standard of Excellence book 3. I introduce solo repertoire to the middle and advanced students. I will find what will suite the students. My approach is hands-on. Lessons are structured with free-play and ear-training to warm up. This is followed by 15-25 minutes studying methods and etudes. The last hour or so is dedicated to solo or performance repertoire. I work to cultivate an atmosphere of safety. Mistakes are expected, its more important that the student plays with conviction; we can clean it up later. I encourage participation in ensembles, competitions, and recitals with the focus on participation, not perfection. Read More

My teaching is style is unique to say the least. I am about grabbing the student from where they are and preparing them to be successful and ready for the next level.
